Jackpot Sharing in Bingo
Bingo is a game full of suspense and thriller. And the most exciting moments are those when you are a number or two short of a Jackpot. But at times when that last number is called out you find others also yelling ‘Bingo’ and you end up sharing your prize money with them, quite frustrating!
So the big question is – how often winners are required to share jackpots while playing online Bingo. In fact it’s a rare case and depends upon the type and variation of Bingo game you are trying. For instance if it’s a cover all game then the number of cards needs to be very high to have multiple winners on the call of same number. On the other hand if it’s a 75 ball bingo with only one line to be completed than even with limited cards there can be multiple winners.
Let’s do some statistical analysis to understand the exact situation. Assume a situation when 100 persons are asked to pick a number between 1 to 50. The chances of 2 or more persons picking the same number are pretty good. However if the number of persons is reduced to 5 the chances of two or more persons picking the same number between 1 to 50 are rare.
Similar laws apply to Bingo games as well. In a standard 75 Ball Bingo, played in a 100 card room, on an average there is only a single winner till 21st or lesser calls. But beyond this, the probability of multiple winner. The following table gives a good comparison of expected number of winners in a 75 ball Bingo with 100 cards
Number of Calls Number of Winners
22 1.5
23 1.53
24 1.62
25 1.72
26 1.86
27 2.02
28 2.17
29 2.21
30 2.57
31 2.6
But in case there are 200 cards in play, then you can expect only one winner till 18th or lesser call. This is because there are more cards floating with the same set of number on them i.e. 1 to 75.
So if you do not like sharing a jackpot, then do make a note of number of cards being distributed and play accordingly.
